In the Aztec culture it believed that warriors who died in battle came back as hummingbird. To the Taino Indians of Puerto Rico the hummingbird is a sacred animal, honored for its role as pollinator and creator of new life. To the Arawak Indians of Jamaica it is believed that hummingbirds were the spirits of the dead.To the Hopi and Zuni Culture of the American Southwest myths tell the story of how the hummingbird brought rain from the gods to help humans. Potters often decorate water jugs with images of hummingbirds. For the Haida Nation of the Northwest coast, the hummingbird, known as Sah Sen, is a symbol of good luck and joy.

In support of the Red Shoe Movement I will be wearing RED shoes to work every Tuesday! 🙂
If you are ready to prove that women can help other women become powerful, join Mariela Dabbah and the Red Shoe Movement!
Wear your red shoes to work on Tuesdays to signal your support for other women’s career goals. Men can wear Red Ties to show support!
By wearing your red shoes to work on Tuesdays (and whenever possible) and letting people know that you support the Red Shoe Movement (RSM), you will not only establish yourself as a supporter of women but also inspire other women to join the movement. It’s very likely that the sheer peer pressure will drive a new conversation at work about women supporting one another.

The lotus is flower is flower with many different meanings to different religions. In Buddhism, lotus flowers mean purity of speech, mind and body rising above the waters of desire and attachment. Different colors of lotus are symbolically used to represent aspects of perfection. Red in lotus represents the heart–its purity, original nature, compassion, passion, love and other qualities. I love water lotus flowers. To me they represent beauty that emerges from water that is often times murky and even muddy. How something so beautiful can come from such murky water is a miracle of nature. A reminder that beauty and peace can come from the darkest and ugliest experiences.
